Family Ski Holidays are a memorable experience
Planning a ski holiday with your children is one of the most memorable experiences you can give them. Every child dreams of being taken to a winter wonderland, and learning to ski or snowboard can give them a life-long love of the mountains.
Travelling abroad with children can be challenging, let alone thinking about all the other aspects of a ski holiday that need to be planned in advance for a successful trip.
Family friendly chalet hotel
Our Chalet Hotel L'Ecrin is ideal for families planning a ski holiday. It is situated in a prime location in the French Alps, a short walk from the centre of the village of Val Claret above Tignes Le Lac, close to the slopes and amenities. Mark Warner provides first-class childcare for children from just 4 months up to 12 years old, making it seamless to take a ski trip with babies and younger children. The childcare offer is often the missing link that ties together the wish for your kids to get the most from their trip to the Alps as well as freeing up time for parents to enjoy quality time on the slopes themselves.

Ski holidays with childcare
Our market-leading childcare is what makes us pioneers of great family holidays. All our childcare staff are professional and hold either a DCE, NNEB, NVQ or equivalent qualification or have at least 2 years relevant experience. We operate a comprehensive childcare programme for babies and school children. The age range we cater for is between 4 months and 12 years old, so even if you’ve just had a baby, don’t worry you still have access to our childcare service. Our childcare is an additional cost to the holiday and will need to be pre-booked in advance, prior to departure.
Having the option to leave your kids with our childcare team gives you the luxury of having more time on the slopes to do lots of skiing. If your children are little skiers, our professional key workers take the kids to ski school and pick them up which is such a big time-saving benefit for you. Our childcare service is arranged so it aligns with ski school times, enabling our childcare team to complete drop off and collect the children in time for a supervised lunch.
Our in-house crèches are fully equipped full of toys, providing endless hours of fun with our passionate and friendly nannies. The children are also taken out to play in the snow, so they never have the opportunity to become bored.
Our childcare service even extends into the evening time with our two services - an evening listening service and babysitting service so parents parents to relax and enjoy a childfree evening meal in the chalet hotel, knowing your kids are in good hands. The evening listening service is only available for those who have booked daytime childcare and is included in the cost.
To ensure that your children’s appetite is always satisfied, we provide high tea every day along with breakfast, lunch and dinner. High tea is served every day from 5pm. During school holidays, there is an early dinner slot for children at 7pm.
Another highlight of our childcare facilities is that we provide a parent’s kitchen which helps hugely with late night feeds for babies or for younger children who require drinks or snacks. Parents have access to this kitchen to store their essentials for their younger children.
Family room options
We offer a large selection of family rooms at Chalet Hotel l'Ecrin so you’ll be sure to find the right room type to suit all of the family’s needs and you won’t have to fret over the limited choice of rooms available; allowing your children to be close to you so essentially it feels like a family home abroad. You won’t feel restricted when you come to book your room for your family ski holiday.

Transfers to the ski resort
The highlight of a Mark Warner skiing holiday is that we take care of everything including transfers to and from the airport. This is a huge relief when travelling with children. As you would expect transfer times from the airport to ski resorts in the mountains to be quite long, our transfer times are quite reasonable with them being no more than 3 hours. We ensure all of our transfers consist of a break halfway through the journey where the coach stops at a service station, so you can buy some food and everyone can get out and stretch their legs – this breaks up the journey and makes it more enjoyable.
Our chalet hotel is close to the slopes
Walking to slopes that are miles away from the chalet hotel is never a fun process with children; their little legs do not have the capacity to walk at your pace and it can be quite tiring when you also have to carry your ski equipment.
Our chalet hotel is situated close to ski lifts, which is super convenient for families, so you don’t have to walk very far at all to start your day of skiing.
Ski & snowboard lessons for the family
We work with an excellent ski school Evolution 2 in Tignes, to make learning as enjoyable as it is effective. All the instructors we use are English speaking and skilled at teaching children, so your child will soon be relaxed and feeling at home on their skis. Our ski school partner Evolution 2 provides ski and snowboard lessons for adults and ski lessons for children from 4 years of age.
The location of our hotel with its close proximity to the slopes makes skiing with the family an enjoyable experience and means that you don’t have to spend lots of time getting to the slopes or ski and snowboarding schools – a huge bonus when you have children.
So if you have not taken a ski holiday yet with the kids or have been putting it off because of the anticipated worries, we hope we’ve shed some good light on why taking a ski holiday with the kids will be well worth it and will be an incredible experience for all. We know our stuff on ski holidays for families.
