1. Turkish Aegean Coast
Sometimes the clue really is in the name: The Turquoise Coast. Clear blue waters, glistening under azure skies, calmly lapping against soft, sandy beaches… Our Phokaia Beach Resort sits on the Turkish Aegean Coast, in a private bay, looking out over the islands of Orak, and Incir – which gets its own mention in the Ancient Greek Epic poem, the Odyssey, as the Siren's Rock. It’s a place which has been famed for its beauty for thousands of years, and has evolved into an ideal location to pull up a beach lounger, or try (or even perfect) a watersport like sailing, windsurfing, kayaking or paddle boarding… all under the expert guidance of our teams who are on hand to help you get to grips with getting onto the water.
If you prefer to stay out of the surf on your holiday to Turkey, Phokaia Beach offers four pools, three tennis courts, and four new pickleball courts. There’s also road cycling and mountain biking, a luxurious spa with a Turkish Hamann, and a well-equipped gym and a fitness pavilion. When it comes to refuelling (or just taking a moment to sit back and relax) there are three restaurants including the Al carte restaurant offering beachfront dining, three bars and a coffee shop serving delicious cakes and pastries. Why not enjoy indulgent cocktails at the glamorous Tiki bar by the beachfront as you watch sunset? And a water taxi is available from the resort’s jetty, ready to take you to the charming nearby fishing village of Foca, celebrated for its cuisine based on fresh seafood, traditional mezes, and other Aegean specialities, with the best restaurants clustered around the harbour.
Parents can enjoy all of that and more while taking advantage of the inclusive on-site childcare and kids clubs, catering for ages 2 - 17 years (childcare for babies aged 4 months to 2 years is available at an extra cost).
Many of the resort's activities in Turkey are included in the booking price, making it a practical choice for families. Board basis is 5 days full board and 2 days half board, which means you can focus on enjoying your holiday without having to worry about too many extra costs.
Phokaia Beach Resort offers an impressive range of land-based activities and watersports, including sailing, windsurfing, kayaking and stand-up paddle boarding. Experienced sailors and windsurfers can also join a foiling course at an extra cost.

Greece is, of course, famous for its islands – but the mainland can more than hold its own when it comes to being one of the best holiday destinations in August for families. Paleros (which you may also have seen referred to as Palairos) is a charming village, set just across the water from the stunning island of Lefkada, which is connected to the mainland by a bridge. The Ionian Coast's unspoilt beaches and lush surroundings can make it hard to believe it’s just a few hours from Athens. But our Mark Warner Paleros Beach Resort really does feel like an island paradise. It has a wide and gently sloping, family-friendly beach, at Portmaki, leading down to shallow waters, with a backdrop of beautiful mountains and olive groves.

There’s also the chance to join an excursion and go island-hopping – taking in the charms of Lefkada, just 30 minutes by car, or Meganisi and Kastos, which are just a short boat trip away.
