Overall the resort, the facilities and staff were very good. However, I thought the arrangements for breakfast and evening meal were not up to the standard that we have come to expect from Mark Warner.
The breakfast food area was very cramped and not easy to move around when there were a lots of guests getting their breakfast. The actual dining area layout for breakfast was good.
The layout for the evening meal was also not ideal as the serving areas were narrow with serving areas on either side. Again it was difficult to move around and get food when there were a lot guests doing the same thing. On the whole the evening meals were ok but not as good as other Mark Warner resorts. I personally did not like the fact that cats were able to wander around the dining area a situation which was made much worse by guests actively throwing food on the floor for them. Not acceptable or hygienic and the cats should be actively discouraged from the dining area and guests asked not to feed them at the table.
All the Mark Warner staff were all very helpful, polite and friendly

We should caveat this considered review with us being big MW fans; we are writing this review in the hope of making it even better.
We went to Paleros 2 years ago and again in October 2025; it was better in 2023 for a few reasons, although it is still a nice holiday.
Firstly, the coach ride from the airport to the hotel was truly awful: wet seat, gum everywhere, disgusting and a bad way to start the holiday. Plus, the drivers throwing suitcases around into mounds wasn't very helpful.
Secondly, the personal training sessions were neither personable nor personalised; unfortunately, not that useful, and we wouldn't recommend these.
Thirdly, the padel situation is ridiculous, as it is predominantly crowd control. Whenever we turned up to 'intro to padel' or 'social padel', there were well over 20 people for 2 courts, and as a result, it wasn't great.
Also, it was very hard to book a court due to minimal availability.
Next, although the staff were generally nice, they seemed a bit disinterested: not wearing name badges or introducing themselves and a bit less helpful than remembered.
Furthermore, we wanted to rent a bike, but they didn't have one in the correct size (medium/large), meaning we had to take out an XL; this then squeaked nonstop, and both issues were annoying. Also, the organised cycles seemed to fill up pretty quickly, so you had to be very organised to get on one of these (not very relaxing on holiday).
In addition, the pools were very cold! In early Oct, the sea was warm, but the pools were freezing and weren't very appealing, even when the air temperature was above 20 degrees. Few people swam as a result.
Inevitably, the same poolside furniture from 2 years ago is becoming tired.
Finally, and perhaps most troubling, was the car hire. We paid 50 euros for a hire car and got a knackered Dacia, which still had rubbish in it and felt like a local's car (it still had children's toys in it). The steering wheel shuddered when going above 20kph, and it felt unsafe. Most of the warning lights on the dashboard were on. After raising this, it was swapped for a Kia Picanto, which was adequate. The changing of cars did take an hour out of our day, though, which was annoying.
Nonetheless, the room was calm, clean and comfortable, the scenery is perfect, and the adult pool is a lovely place to relax. The food is truly superb (a reason we visit), and most of the staff are well-meaning. Freya was particularly pleasant and helpful, a credit to MW.
We would still recommend this holiday, but we were surprised that it fell short compared to 2 years ago.

Great location, great food and service. The not so good points are tired bicycles that have done 3 seasons already. No grading for racquet sports ability, so a complete beginner can play with a seasoned pro.
Overall though, it’s still great value for money.

Superb food and facilities.
We went to the resort outside of school holidays, the place adjusted superbly to the ‘older’ clientele.
The rooms were very clean, food delicious. The evening entertainment - something for everyone.

Overall I really enjoyed the holiday. The venue was nice. The amenities good and the food great. The local village is easily walkable and very nice. The local hotel staff do a great job.
My only complaint is the land based activities staff. The padel coach bad mouthing the tennis team and complaining to bar staff that he had another rubbish day
I went to play pickleball as its advertised as a feature. I didn’t expect to find people of my standard but I also didn’t expect to find a tennis staff with zero interest in pickleball.
I went to what should have been the intro session to find, no nets set up, no equipment out and no coach to advise the other folk who had attended how to play.
Fortunately there were others who played so we introduced around 40 guest over the week to pickleball with zero interest from staff continuing.
Very poor show Mark Warner sort your staff out. Even the activities manager refused to discuss it at the site.

Having been on many MW holidays, AV is one of the best resorts.
Top marks to Ali and the MW team.
Ben on Tennis was particularly professional. The road bike rides were well organised and always a great way to see the island.
I thought the food was above standard for a MW.
Accommodation was good quality - I stayed in the main block overlooking the pool.
A great holiday - thank you.

I stayed at the Aeolian Village for a week at the very beginning of Mark Warner’s season (mid May - reviewed separately) and returned at the very end (1 to 8 October). Setting aside the weather, I found the quality of the holiday and the professionalism and enthusiasm of the staff as impressive in week 21 as it was in week 1. This is a very well managed resort, with great credit due to Ali and his deputy, Kostas, but also to individuals in every department (my interactions were with the charming, helpful Reception team; the wonderful waterfront team, led by Lilie; Vicky, the fitness instructor; George, the head chef and all the lovely restaurant staff).
Despite being a solo traveller, I found my accommodation had been upgraded io a villa with a sea view and a huge bed and bedroom: fantastically quiet and comfortable. These elevated village rooms are an unusual feature of the resort, and the only potential drawback (although it didn’t bother me) is that the walk to and from the restaurant in the main body of the hotel, and beyond that to to the pool/pool bar area, and further beyond that to the waterfront takes quite some time. Don’t forget an umbrella if it looks like rain, and don’t set off for the beach without checking you really have everything you need!
One notable improvement since May: the hot food in the restaurant at dinner stayed really hot in the buffet serving pans and bowls! (The food is outstanding here, but in May it was just occasionally lukewarm.)
Ah, warmth …. We experienced two storms in one week, an obvious risk with a late season holiday. All the evenings were at least chilly and sometimes cold and wet (which meant the restaurant had to bring everyone inside). Some days were sunny and warm, but the majority were cloudy. And the sea was far colder than I expected - no trace of residual warmth from the summer months. I wore a full length wetsuit whenever I windsurfed, but quite a lot of guests had no such protection. I would advise anyone coming at this time of year to bring warm clothing and gear.
And the wind … not great, frankly, in part because we oscillated between pre-and post-storm calm and the storms themselves. I think the wind was some variant of onshore every single day, and the sea was wavy even when the wind was weak, so launching was a pain and most days it was difficult fully to enjoy the vast expanse of the sailing area. But again that is the risk you take in October.
Fortunately there is a lot you can enjoy here if the waterfront is closed or the sea conditions aren’t suitable for you. My go-to activity is hiking to the hilltop chapels and across the Eresos plain, but there is also mountain biking in much the same area, tennis, the fitness programme. I don’t think you will ever be at a loss.
So overall, this was another excellent holiday notwithstanding the weather, and I am sure I shall return.
