Whistler Skiing Holidays
The magnificent resort of Whistler Blackcomb
is North America's largest, a fitting host for the 2010 winter
Olympics. Great snow, great food, great apres ski and great
service - what more could one want?
Whistler Ski Resort
Just two hours' scenic drive north of Vancouver
lies the twin-peak resort of Whistler Blackcomb with 200 marked
runs and 12 bowls set in stunning alpine scenery.
Each mountain is served by a fast gondola from
the main village. From the top of Whistler, broad slopes fan
out through the trees, served by speedy quad chairs.
Intermediate and advanced skiers can tackle the bumps or head off
to explore the sunny bowls above the tree line. On the other
side of the mountain lovely tree-lined runs descend into Whistler
Creekside.
Blackcomb offers similarly diverse skiing with
plenty of wide pistes, steeper gladed runs and a serene
glacier. The 1,600m vertical drop from here to the base is
the longest in North America. New for 2009 is the Peak to
Peak gondola connecting Whistler to Blackcomb spanning 4.4kms.
The attractive village is full of shops and
restaurants with plenty of apres ski to be found on its
pedestrianised streets and squares, such as the Brewhouse which
brews its own beers. On the slopes, the mountain restaurants
are spacious venues serving a wide choice of dishes from
noodles to pizza.
